Good practices for importing files

Overview

The Calculation Memory is a powerful tool available on the Financial Modeling which allows that calculation rationales and spreadsheets created on other tools in xls e csv formats can be used for constructing metrics, adjustments and budgets in the platform.

However, often when creating new spreadsheets and work folders, auxiliary tabs arise which are not effectively used on the final observations and are not relevant for constructing this data, unnecessarily increasing the size of the file that shall become a Calculation Memory. In addition, a few visual tools commonly used in spreadsheet are not necessary in the platform given the availability of other modules, thereby making the prior removal of these tools more efficient. Such as for instance, graphs, widgets, imagens, textboxes and sparklines.

1. Remove all the visual items such as graphs, images and sparklines

3. Avoid customizing with text colors and empty cells background

If your spreadsheet has this kind of customization:
1. Select all the cells with no amount
2. Click on the Fill Color icon
3. Select “No fill”

4. Do not use intervals appointing tools

If you are using the intervals appointing tool to bring information up to a tab/cell, it is necessary to copy the lines resulting from the use of this variable and to paste them as an amount.

5. Do not use external links or connection with other spreadsheets.


The use of external links impairs the processing of files in the Calculation Memory; as such, it is necessary to use this data only as amounts.

6. Avoid unnecessary tabs for the context of Memory

If there are tabs on your file which shall not be used directly for constructing the budget or which may be found in another manner in the platform, delete all the information present in these tabs, excluding them completely.

Check if there is unnecessary information in your hidden columns and lines that can be deleted.

7. Avoid using dropdowns, checkboxes and other data validation elements

Remove all the cell configurations which are on the Data guide of your spreadsheet, such as groupings, data validation, dropdown lists, etc.
